State scores on healthy cities list

In a healthy city survey commissioned by Organic Style magazine, seven California cities made the top 125 list: Chico was ranked No. 16; Davis, 39; Santa Barbara, 45; Bakersfield, 78; San Diego, 83; San Francisco, 96; and Los Angeles, 108. Santa Fe, N.M., topped the list, and St. Louis completed it.
The survey, in the magazine’s current issue, was conducted by Robert Weinhold, author of the Rating Guide to Environmentally Healthy Metro Areas. He ranked the cities and 10 zones nationwide for health and environmental quality. California was in Zone 8 in a ranking with 1, for the best, going to Hawaii.
