L.A. County gives arts grants

The Los Angeles County Arts Commission has announced $1.9 million in grants to 204 nonprofit arts organizations for fiscal 2004-05.
Recipients of funds through the Organizational Grant Program include Native Voices at the Autry National Center, an initiative for Native American writers and theater artists ($49,000); Mexican Cultural Institute of Los Angeles ($8,800); Watts Village Theater Company ($8,200) and Camerata Singers of Long Beach ($6,600).
Overall grants funds were reduced by 1.5%, or $30,000, from 2003-04, while the number of organizations receiving money has increased by 15.
