Eat, Drink and Be Chauffeured

In an effort to reduce alcohol-related traffic accidents, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority is offering free rides on its buses and trains from 9 tonight until 2 a.m. Saturday.
In addition, the transit agency’s subways and light-rail trains will run for 24 hours to take patrons to the Rose Parade in Pasadena.
The Automobile Club of Southern California is offering a free tow and a ride home for over-indulging drivers. Called “Tipsy Tow,” the service is available from 6 tonight through 6 a.m. New Year’s Day.
Anyone concerned about someone driving drunk can call (800) 400-4222 for a free tow of up to seven miles. The service is for drivers only and does not include rides home for passengers.
Some transportation services will be reduced over the holiday weekend. The Los Angeles Department of Transportation’s Commuter Express buses will run on a reduced schedule today and Saturday.
The city recommends that people wishing to take its DASH or Commuter Express buses check the schedule online at www.ladottransit.com or call 808-2273 from any city area code.
