Jury Award Against Bertelsmann Is Upheld

Bertelsmann, Germany’s largest media company, lost a bid to cut a $255.9-million jury award to two former managers who claimed they were owed a share of the sale of Bertelsmann’s half of AOL Europe.
The ruling by Santa Barbara County Superior Court Judge James Brown gives Bertelsmann the right to appeal the verdict in favor of former employees Andreas von Blottnitz and Jan H. Buettner within the next 30 days.
Bertelsmann plans to argue on appeal that the case should have been tried in Germany.
