Don’t forget the folks behind alt-country

Nice article by Jeff Miller (“Gone Country,” March 4). But it’s too bad he didn’t mention the individuals who are responsible for the alt-country scene continuing:

Bliss, who tirelessly puts together the most extensive e-list of alt-country, roots and Americana with Shilah Morrow and sponsors the Highland night; Charlotte Chamberlain, who booked the now-defunct Culver Saloon and is responsible for the “scene” at the Cinema; and

Ronnie Mack for the Barn Dance.

Re “freed from the dog eat dog pressure”: All the participants know that there is no money in playing clubs at all in Southern California and camaraderie is all they have.
