L.A. School District Buys Granada Hills Hospital

The Los Angeles Unified School District has completed its $22.5-million purchase of the defunct Granada Hills Community Hospital, clearing the way for possible development of a high school on the 11-acre site.
The 39-year-old hospital at 10455 Balboa Blvd. in Granada Hills was ordered by a U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge to close six months ago. The LAUSD topped 13 other bidders to buy the distressed property, said real estate broker Bob Safai of Madison Partners, who represented bankruptcy trustee David K. Gottlieb in the sale.
LAUSD made the highest bid because sites large enough for school development are difficult to find in built-up Los Angeles County, Safai said. “They searched in many locations.”
