From Times Wire Reports
Two of three U.N. workers kidnapped in Afghanistan called home to reassure relatives that they were all right, as negotiators tried to secure their release from Taliban-linked militants.
The hostages -- Shqipe Hebibi of Kosovo, Annetta Flanigan of Northern Ireland and Angelito Nayan of the Philippines -- helped organize Afghanistan’s landmark Oct. 9 election.
The kidnappers have demanded the release of some Taliban prisoners and withdrawal of the United Nations from the country.
