Nicaragua’s highest court granted former President Arnoldo Aleman conditional release from house arrest.
The Criminal Tribunal of the Supreme Court of Justice ordered the government to allow Aleman, who is serving time for money laundering and fraud, to move freely throughout the province of Managua, which includes the capital of the same name. He is still prohibited from leaving the country.
Aleman was sentenced to 20 years in December 2003.
