Convicted Killer Freed After Serving 22 Years

From Times Wire Reports

The state’s most infamous outlaw, Claude Dallas, was released from prison after serving 22 years for the execution-style slayings of two state game wardens in 1981.

Dallas, 54, gained notoriety as a callous criminal and a mountain man at odds with the government. He was released after his 30-year term was reduced by eight years for good behavior.

Dallas walked out of the Idaho Correctional Institution in Orofino at 4:55 a.m., said Teresa Jones, an Idaho Department of Correction spokeswoman.

“He doesn’t want to talk to the media or make a big deal out of his release,” said Kevin Kempf, the prison’s warden. “He just wants to go live his life.”
