32 Cubans Land on Tiny Island Near Miami

More than 30 Cubans, including eight children, were in the hands of the Border Patrol after landing on a tiny island off the coast near Miami.
The 32 Cubans told authorities they left the Communist-ruled island Monday and reached land Thursday night. They were spotted by a Homeland Security Department helicopter, but no boat was seen in the area.
Officials speculated that a smuggler had dropped the Cubans off on the deserted island.
Cubans who arrive on U.S. shores are allowed to stay. Immigrants who try to come to Florida from other countries in the Caribbean are generally sent home.
