Stars for Stripes

I just finished Robert Hilburn’s interview with the White Stripes [“Little White Truths,” June 5]. It gave me the same feeling I get when I hear new White Stripes music. I was jealous like a fifth-grader that I wasn’t in the back seat of Jack White’s T-Bird! I expected revved-up rock like “Blue Orchid,” but then the marimba and piano of “The Nurse” started and I thought, wait, I want to rock! On repeated listens, every chord, every nuance hit me like the Beatles did when I was a 9-year-old back in ‘64!
