Who’s to say it’s right or wrong?

Regarding Simon Singh’s review of “Conflict in the Cosmos” (Book Review, May 29) and his condescending attitude toward Fred Hoyle: Please be reminded that the big-bang theory is just that -- a theory. He does Hoyle and himself a disservice by stating that the steady-state theory is “fundamentally wrong.” How do you know that? I for one subscribe to the steady-state theory because it makes more sense. Don’t count Hoyle out yet. The Catholic Church condemned Galileo, and we all know how “fundamentally wrong” it was.
