DeLay Lawyer Asks Judge to Step Aside

Rep. Tom DeLay appeared in court as a criminal defendant for the first time, listening while his lawyer asked the presiding judge to step aside because he had made campaign donations to Democrats and liberal groups.
In a brief hearing, Judge Bob Perkins deferred the proceedings until a hearing could be held on the request for a new judge.
