Good local music

THE article about the New West Symphony making its debut at the Wadsworth Theater [“New Stage for a New Symphony,” Oct. 9] quotes the Wadsworth operator as stating, “There’s no local, convenient Westside symphony.” I beg to differ. The Santa Monica Symphony Orchestra has been performing high-quality programs for the Westside and has just begun its 61st consecutive season of admission-free concerts at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium.
