A 15-year-old high school student was killed Tuesday after she ran across a street and was hit by a pickup truck pulling a loaded horse trailer, police said.
The girl and a male companion were running across Wood Road in front of Martin Luther King High School at 2:30 p.m. when the accident occurred. Her companion made it across the street, but the girl dashed into the path of the truck, according to Steven Frasher, spokesman for the Riverside Police Department.
The girl was pronounced dead at Riverside County Regional Medical Center at 3:30 p.m., Frasher said. Charges are not anticipated, he said.
Neither the driver nor the victim was named by police.
