Senators in West Oppose Enron Settlement

U.S. senators from 10 Western states called on federal regulators to reject a proposed settlement with Enron Corp., questioning a provision that would withhold Enron audiotapes and e-mails from the public.
The settlement would resolve claims by regulatory staff, the city of Santa Clara and Valley Electric Assn. Inc., a Nevada cooperative, regarding Enron’s power and natural-gas sales in the West.
