Transit Agencies to Seek Funds for Tunnel Study
- Share via
Regional transportation and water board officials decided Friday to streamline efforts to get nearly $16 million in federal money to study a proposed 11-mile tunnel between Orange and Riverside counties.
The consensus to have only transportation agencies seek funds was reached at a meeting presided over by Reps. Gary G. Miller (R-Diamond Bar) and Ken Calvert (R-Corona).
The decision comes amid growing support for the tunnel by Riverside County officials who want to ease traffic and increasing opposition by south Orange County officials who fear it would jam neighborhoods with more traffic.
