Another 2 cents on tipping study

REGARDING “Study Shows Blacks Tip Less -- but They May Have Good Reason” [Travel Insider, March 26]: I am a U.S.-born citizen of Pakistani descent. I was a waiter for more than five years and worked in places including Denny’s and upscale restaurants in Oakbrook, Ill.

Not only are blacks poor tippers, but so are South Asians (Pakistanis included).

Often, when I served a black, Indian or other Asian customer, regardless of how great my service or food was, I would get a bad tip. The same food and service provided to white customers would result in a 15% to 20% tip.
