From Bloomberg News
Delta Air Lines Inc. wants to terminate the pension plan for its 6,000 pilots, saying it needs the savings before it can exit bankruptcy protection.
Delta and the Air Line Pilots Assn. said earlier that the plan’s termination was likely. Under an agreement with the pilots for $280 million in pay and benefit cuts, Delta said it would pay $650 million in notes or cash if they wouldn’t fight the ending of their pensions.
Delta filed for bankruptcy protection Sept. 14.
