White House to honor medalists

Dancer Cyd Charisse and bluegrass musician Ralph Stanley are among those who will be honored at the White House today with the National Medal of Arts. Kevin Starr, a California historian and former state librarian, will be among those getting a National Humanities Medal.
Other arts winners include composer William Bolcom, conductor Erich Kunzel, photographer Roy R. DeCarava and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band of New Orleans. Other humanities winners include the Hoover Institution in Palo Alto, historian Nickolas Davatzes, economist James Buchanan and biographer Meryle Secrest.
