Free, just not free to drop in

If you’re in the habit of dropping by the Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens on the first Thursday of the month to check out the current exhibitions for free, be prepared to start thinking ahead instead of making a spur-of-the-moment trip. Beginning Sept. 6, you’ll need a ticket on “Free Day.”
Tickets are available a month in advance, starting on the first day of the month, by phone at (800) 838-3006 or online at www.huntington.org -- and you’ll be asked to choose either morning or afternoon admission. Refreshingly, free still means free. There’s no tricky service charge.
