7th man charged in fatal jail beating

A seventh man has been charged in the beating murder last year of a Theo Lacy Facility inmate who attackers believed was a child molester, authorities said Thursday.
Miguel Angel Guilen, 45, of Mexico was arrested after entering the United States under a false name, authorities said. He had been deported when the six others, all inmates at the time, were charged in the October 2006 death of fellow inmate John Chamberlain, 41.
A wrongful-death lawsuit filed by Chamberlain’s father alleged that jail officials misidentified him as a child molester to other inmates when he had actually been arrested on suspicion of domestic battery and possession of child pornography.
If convicted, the defendants could each face 25 years to life in prison. Guilen is scheduled to be arraigned today.
