Man, father are arrested after woman shot in head

An Irvine man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder early Friday after an acquaintance was shot in the head at close range with her infant nearby.
The woman, who was not identified, was hospitalized in critical condition.
Anton Kareem Naimat, 20, was taken into custody about 4 a.m. -- 6 1/2 hours after the shooting in the 4000 block of Salacia Drive -- at the Lake Forest residence of another acquaintance, said Lt. Rick Handfield, a spokesman for the Irvine Police Department.
Naimat’s father, Tassawur, 55, was arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting his son.
