Re “Paraplegic allegedly ‘dumped’ on skid row,” Feb. 9
The alleged dumping of the paraplegic on skid row begs for someone to file a huge civil lawsuit. With a large award in such a case, perhaps hospitals would decide it is not in their best interests to continue this egregious practice. Apparently, threats of legal action are not a sufficient deterrent.

The story of the gentleman who was dumped on skid row perfectly illustrates the ethical low that we have become accustomed to tolerating. This poor man’s plight is real and will no doubt be long lasting. The fact that many people are, like him, without homes, medical care and caring people to help makes his story all the more damning of this country’s priorities. In a moving turn, I hope that the public notes the compassion shown by the skid row community -- more, it seems than we with far greater resources are often willing to extend.
