Another case of Bush-bashing

Re “Bush’s domestic Iraq,” Opinion, June 4
Mickey Kaus’ attempt to tie proposed immigration reform to Iraq is sillier than a Saturday morning cartoon. While the basic idea for immigration reform was proposed by President Bush in 2001, the official policy of this country as voted by Congress and signed by President Clinton to remove Saddam Hussein predated Bush’s entrance into the White House by three years. As for immigration, the president isn’t crafting the bill being debated. Congress members will decide on the language of the final bill and the president can accept or reject it. As usual with Bush critics, Kaus believes the president must be wrong because he’s Bush.
