Gonzales hires lawyer in case

Former Atty. Gen. Alberto Gonzales has hired George Terwilliger, a Washington criminal lawyer, to represent him in investigations of mismanagement of the Justice Department.

Terwilliger was the second-ranking Justice Department official in the early 1990s.
Meanwhile, the Senate Judiciary Committee said that confirmation hearings for Michael Mukasey, President Bush’s nominee to replace Gonzales, would begin Wednesday.
