Nobel brings bids to book publisher

The Paris publishing house that is home to the new Nobel Prize in literature winner is battling a flood of e-mail and telephone offers as publishers compete for foreign rights.
“I am not panicking, I am taking it very calmly,” Anne-Solange Noble, the director of foreign rights at Editions Gallimard, said Friday. “I have had so many phone calls I don’t know how to answer them all.”
Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clezio, 68, selected for the Nobel on Thursday, has written more than 30 books.
Noble said she isn’t making any decisions until the Frankfurt Book Fair, where she will be next week.
