A Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of committing a lewd act with a minor. James Joseph Doyle was arrested at the Compton Courthouse, where he was working as a bailiff, said Brea Police Sgt. Bill Smyser.
Doyle, 45, is accused of touching a 15-year-old girl inappropriately on June 20 while she was a passenger in his car. The teenager, a Yorba Linda resident, told her parents, who called Orange County Child Protective Services. The incident was reported to Brea police, who patrol Yorba Linda.
Doyle, a Long Beach resident and friend of the girl’s family, was released after posting $20,000 bail.
Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore said Doyle was relieved of duty with pay.
