Please be kind to El Paso

I read about how Mark Milian ruffled some feathers with a blog post about his night in El Paso [“He Rolled Along Taking Requests From Readers,” Aug. 9].

I visit El Paso every few years and feel at home there. Please understand our history and geography. Being so far away from the rest of Texas, we, at times, feel orphaned but proud to be a member of the Lone Star State.

We have been looked down on by our bigger sisters Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio since prehistoric times, and we have developed an inferiority complex and take criticisms personally and act defensively toward any unfriendly attitude, real or imaginary. Please handle us gently next time because we are a very sensitive people.
