Better how?

So Kurt Streeter thinks the Angels are better off this year with a tight pennant race (which of course, they might lose) rather than sprinting to a 100-win season as they did last year . . . really?
So I guess it was also better for the Angels to start the season with three of their top starting pitchers on the disabled list. I guess it was also better for the Angels to have Vladdy injured for almost two months at the beginning of the season. And does Kurt Streeter think it was better for the Angels to go through the emotional trauma of Nick Adenhart’s untimely and tragic death? Give me a break, Kurt. If the Angels had been healthy, they would be up by 10 games right now. Now that would be better for the Angels.

Sure Andruw Jones’ three homers against the Angels was impressive, but let’s keep it in perspective. The first two were hit against Ervin Santana, who should be performing his disturbing “I’m feeling good, it will come sooner or later” act in Salt Lake City and the third was hit against Aussie Rich Thompson, who should be playing, I don’t know, rugby or something.

The following is an excerpt from Wednesday night on all-news radio station KHEL, in Hades:
“In sports, Andruw Jones hit three home runs to lead the Rangers to a win over the Angels.
“Taking a look at weather, the forecast calls for temps to drop to minus-20 degrees as an unexpected cold snap moves into our area . . . “
