Atty. Gen. Eric H. Holder Jr. is considering whether to appoint a prosecutor to investigate the Bush administration’s interrogation practices.
A Justice Department official told the Associated Press that Holder planned to make a final decision within the next few weeks. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak on a pending matter.

Obama has expressed reluctance to having an investigation, saying that the nation should be “looking forward and not backwards” when it comes to alleged Bush-era abuses.
