A Redondo Beach police officer shot and wounded a man in the 4500 block of 170th Street in Lawndale, authorities said Sunday.
The victim, whom police declined to identify, was taken to a hospital, where he was being treated for a single gunshot wound, according to authorities.
Sgt. Peter Grimm, a watch commander at the Police Department, declined to identify the officer involved in the shooting, which occurred about 11:45 p.m. Friday.
Grimm said he did not know the details surrounding the incident.
The shooting is being investigated by detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
