A driver hit a natural gas line at a Rhode Island apartment building, setting off an explosion that injured six firefighters and a police officer.
Providence Fire Department Deputy Chief James Mirza told the Providence Journal that one firefighter and the officer were hospitalized.
Mirza said the gas from the ruptured line built up in a room that houses the building’s heating and electrical equipment and then ignited in the confined space.
