Surging Mets rally to beat Giants

SAN FRANCISCO — Gary Sheffield scored the go-ahead run on San Francisco closer Brian Wilson’s throwing error in the ninth inning, and the New York Mets rallied from an early four-run deficit for an 8-6 victory over the Giants on Friday night.
David Wright of the Mets had three hits and four RBIs, three on a tying double in the seventh inning of New York’s 10th victory in 12 games.
The Mets erased deficits of 5-1 and 6-3 against NL Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum, scoring three runs in the sixth and two in the seventh.
