Update: In what some believe could be a preview of the Nov. 22 MLS Cup final in Seattle, tonight’s match pits the leaders of the league’s two conferences. Chicago is the last remaining unbeaten team in MLS, and the Fire will tie the league record for best start to a season if it goes undefeated for two more games. Fire Coach Denis Hamlett’s team also leads the league in goals scored with 17, led by former U.S. national team forward Brian McBride’s six. Chivas USA boasts what is statistically the best defense in MLS, having given up only six goals. The focus, however, is more likely to be on Chicago forward Cuauhtemoc Blanco, who has been recalled for Mexico’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers against El Salvador and Trinidad. Blanco has a goal and five assists so far in 2009. “It’s an enticing game,” said Chivas’ Mexican striker, Eduardo Lillingston, who leads the team with four goals and one assist.
