TV ratings: CBS wins the night with ‘Big Brother’

Double eviction night on CBS’ “Big Brother” helped elevate the network to No. 1 on Thursday night, according to Nielsen.
However, due to NFL preseason football in local markets such as Los Angeles, New York, Boston and San Francisco, ratings for FOX, ABC, CBS and NBC are likely inflated and may see adjustments.
Programming on ABC and NBC, which took second and third most watched networks of the night overall, was also briefly interrupted around 9:30 p.m. ET by a 10-minute statement from President Obama about Iraq.
Despite CBS seeing delays in about 22% of the country, it rounded out the night with about 7.1 million viewers and a rating of 2.0 in the key 18-to-49-year-old demographic.
“Big Brother,” which posted a rating of 2.7 in the key demo, was the most watched in the desired category. About 7.3 million people tuned in, making it second most viewed program of the night.
A re-run of CBS’ ‘ “Big Bang Theory,” which drew in roughly 8.7 million people, won the night in total viewers. Its rating of 2.3 in the key demo made it the second most watched in the desired category.
Also on the network, “Mom” posted a solid rating of 2.0 in the key demo, making it third most watched in that same category and overall. About 7.3 million people tuned in to the sitcom.
Spanish-language network Univision, which aired episodes of its telenovas “Lo Que la Vida Me Robo” and “Mi Corazon es Tuyo,” earned a rating of 1.4 in the key demo, elevating it to the second most watched network among the key demo.
