ABC expected to tap OWN’s Whitney Holland for scheduling position

ABC is expected to finally fill a key position in its scheduling department by tapping Whitney Holland as its new vice president of program planning and acquisitions, according to people close to her and ABC.
Holland joins ABC from OWN, the cable network co-owned by Oprah Winfrey and Discovery Communications where she was vice president of scheduling and acquisitions since August 2011. Prior to joining OWN, Holland held scheduling positions at Hallmark Channel, Bravo and Animal Planet.
At ABC, Holland will report to Andy Kubitz, the network’s executive vice president of program planning. Kubitz joined ABC from CBS last August after Jeff Bader left the network to become NBC’s top scheduling executive.
Holland will fill the hole left open by Steve Kern, who followed Bader to NBC last fall.
Next week, ABC will unveil its fall schedule to advertisers.
