“[P]ink champagne, gold lame, hair, and fearlessness.”
That’s how Lady Gaga described the new version of “Do What U Want” that she linked to Tuesday on Twitter, and she’s right at the very least about the hair.
Though “Do What U Want” appears on Gaga’s “Artpop” album as a duet with R. Kelly, here the R&B star is replaced by Christina Aguilera, one of the few A-list pop acts as reliably adventurous with her mane as Gaga is.

The two singers first joined forces to perform the tune —about how the world can do what it wants with their bodies, but it’ll never own their minds — last month on the season finale of “The Voice.” That rendition followed earlier appearances by Gaga and Kelly on “Saturday Night Live” and the American Music Awards.
Given that “Do What U Want” is one of “Artpop’s” undeniable high points, Pop & Hiss wouldn’t be opposed to Gaga’s spending the first few months of 2014 redoing the song with various duet partners.
Celine Dion, anyone? M.I.A.? The dude from Franz Ferdinand?
