Palm Springs Modernism Week highlights 2014

Palm Springs Modernism Week’s home tours sold out months ago, but there are still plenty of events left to choose from during the 11-day celebration of midcentury architecture and design, running Feb. 13 through 23.

Palm Springs Modernism Show and Sale. More than 80 dealers will be on hand at the annual show of 20th century design, including Reform Gallery, Off the Wall, Route 66 West and Z Modern. Feb. 14-17. Palm Springs Convention Center, 277 N. Avenida Caballeros, Palm Springs. $20; includes show catalog and repeat entry.

Vintage Trailer Show. Restored vintage trailers are available for viewing in the parking lot of the Hilton Hotel, 400 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way, Palm Springs. Feb. 22 and 23. $15.

Neighborhood Walking Tours. Explore architecturally significant neighborhoods such as Canyon View Estates, Racquet Club Estates, El Rancho Vista Estates and Royal Hawaiian Estates on foot. Feb. 14-23. $25 to $90.

Double Decker Architectural Bus Tours. Witness the renowned Neutra Kaufmann Desert House, Wexler Steel Houses and the homes of Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and others from the top deck of a double-decker bus. Feb. 14-23. $75.

Christopher Kennedy Showcase. Designers Christopher Kennedy, Thomas Lavin, Patrick Dragonette, Trina Turk and others transform the rooms of the first Modernism Week show house. Feb. 14-23. $35. Location provided after ticket purchase.

Man About Modernism: An Evening With Stephen Collins. The host of Bravo’s “Property Envy” opens his Palm Springs home to the public at this party hosted by the Los Angeles nonprofit Design East of La Brea (de LaB). Feb. 16. $75.

Prefab Showcase and Modern Living Expo. An outdoor village set up on Indian Canyon Drive includes prefab homes and structures from Method Homes and Altius Architecture. The Modern Living Expo tent highlights the latest in smart home technology, green products and solar energy. Feb. 15-17 and 21-23. $10.

Sand and Sea — Modernism in Palm Springs and Sarasota. The Architecture and Design Council hosts a morning symposium, lunch, home tour and reception. Tour includes modernist homes by E. Stewart Williams, Jim Jennings, Hugh M. Kaptur, Robson C. Chambers and Charles DuBois. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 22. Full-day tickets, $150 to $200. Morning symposium and lunch, $50. Palm Springs Art Museum, 101 N. Museum Drive, Palm Springs.
