Days of chaos at the U.S.-Mexico border

The U.S.-Mexico border at the San Ysidro Port of Entry was closed in both directions for several hours on Sunday after hundreds of migrants rushed the area. The same day saw earlier protests on the U.S. side of the border. Here are some scenes from around the area this week.
1. People march in support of the migrant caravan near the U.S.-Mexico border in San Diego on Sunday. Shortly after the march, migrants approaching the border from Mexico were enveloped with tear gas after a number of them tried to breach the fence separating the two countries.
2. Border police use tear gar to prevent migrants with the Central American caravan from crossing the border into the United States near the El Chaparral Port of Entry in Tijuana on Sunday.
3. Migrants with the Central American caravan breach a line set up by Mexico’s Federal Police on Sunday, then access a flood channel, making their way toward the United States.
4. A group of Central American migrants, mostly Hondurans, climb a metal barrier on the U.S.-Mexico border near the El Chaparral Port of Entry in Tijuana on Sunday. U.S. officials closed the San Ysidro crossing point in Southern California that day after hundreds of Central American migrants tried to breach a fence.
5. Thousands from the Central American migrant caravan are being housed at the Benito Juarez Sports Complex in Tijuana.
