State transportation workers stumbled upon human bones Monday while doing roadside cleanup.
Claremont police received a call from the California Highway Patrol about 12:23 p.m. regarding human remains found near the eastbound on-ramp of the 10 Freeway at Indian Hill Boulevard.
CHP responded and confirmed the bones were human and called Claremont police to investigate.
Officers and detectives headed to the scene, cordoned off the area and requested the assistance of Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department crime scene investigators, police said. The Los Angeles County coroner’s office removed the remains.
The cause of death and identity of the victim is unknown, pending analysis by the L.A. County coroner’s office.
