Fire breaks out in West L.A. high-rise

More than 130 firefighters were battling a fire that broke out Friday in a high-rise in West Los Angeles, officials said.
The fire was in an apartment on the 11th floor, officials said, and TV images showed flames and thick plumes of smoke shooting out of the side the building.
Firefighters were attacking the blaze from inside the building at Barrington Plaza near Wilshire Boulevard and Stoner Avenue.
The building is in the 11700 block of Wilshire Boulevard and is 25 stories tall, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.
Greg Heffernan, who witnessed the scene, told KCBS-TV that firefighters were “all over.”
By 12:15 p.m., the amount of smoke billowing out of the building had decreased considerably.
