Police said they will not arrest a driver who fatally hit a man in a wheelchair in Long Beach on Tuesday morning.
Authorities said the driver hit Bong Kim, 72, when he suddenly rolled onto the street on the east side of Alamitos Avenue near Orange Avenue. Police said Kim was trying to cross Alamitos when he was hit and the driver immediately stopped, called 911 and tried to render aid.
Kim was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The investigation is ongoing but no charges are pending against the driver, police said.
