Garcetti to hold office hours today at new South L.A. ‘help desk’

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti will meet one-on-one with constituents Friday at the opening of his latest “mayor’s help desk.”
Garcetti is also slated to speak at the grand opening of the so-called help desk, or field office, at the Mark Ridley-Thomas Constituent Service Center at 8475 S. Vermont Ave. at 10:30 a.m. Two others are in City Hall and Van Nuys.
The locations are meant to help constituents get questions answered and ensure communities are receiving city services.
The mayor has opened his doors to constituents for in-person “office hours” several times -- in downtown, Van Nuys and Boyle Heights. He has also walked door-to-door in Venice to answer questions from residents on a variety of topics.
Garcetti’s different approach to connecting with constituents is also mirrored in social media.
While many public officials leave it to professional public relations staffers to send Twitter messages, Garcetti frequently responds personally to random tweets using his smartphone.
