A 40-year-old man died Thursday night after he lost control of his motorcycle, struck a concrete curb and guardrail and was thrown from his bike on the 5 Freeway, authorities said.
The incident occurred at about 9:52 p.m. on the northbound 5 near the Los Feliz Boulevard exit, said California Highway Patrol Officer Jennifer Cassidy.
Cassidy said rescuers found the man -- identified by L.A. County coroner’s officials as Joshua Wright of Burbank -- lying in the roadway and unresponsive.
She said it was unclear why he initially made “an unsafe turning movement” that caused him to strike the concrete curb and then the guardrail.
His identity was not immediately released and Cassidy said the investigation was ongoing.
