Deputies trying to identify man found dead off Newport Beach coast

Orange County Sheriff’s Department investigators are seeking the public’s help in identifying a man whose body was found by a fisherman on Dec. 24 off southern Newport Beach.
The man was floating about one mile off the Crystal Cove shoreline when the commercial fisherman saw the body and called the authorities.
The man’s age and race are unknown, according to a statement from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. He is described as 5 feet 9, 165 pounds with dark hair.
He was wearing dark nylon sweatpants with zippered legs made by Champion, size 11 black Asics running shoes and a black watch with a plastic band.
