Reader Photo: Prickly pear, dappled with snow, in Temecula

Early on New Year’s Eve morning, photographer Diane Trimble and family awoke to an unusual sight: Temecula covered in snow.
The family went on a drive to see what Temecula’s wine country looked like as a winter wonderland. Always beautiful, the area “was really something special with the snow,” Trimble said. “There were kids sledding down the hills like in Big Bear, like a snow resort. It really looked magical.”
Outside the Europa Village Winery & Inn, Trimble spotted bits of snow balanced on a prickly pear cactus. She captured the image with a Canon 60D.
The last time it snowed in Temecula was Jan. 29, 2002.
