Will Dodgers’ Andre Ethier play Saturday? He’ll wait and see

ST. LOUIS -- Andre Ethier limped out of the visitors clubhouse at Busch Stadium with his left ankle taped and team physician Dr. Neal ElAttrache by his side.

Ethier said he was fine.

“We’ll sleep on it and figure it out tomorrow morning, just like we did today,” Ethier said.

Ethier played almost the entire game in the Dodgers’ 3-2, 13-inning defeat to the St. Louis Cardinals that started Friday night and ended early Saturday.

Batting seventh and starting in center field, Ethier tested his ankle often.

He reached base twice, on a second-inning single and an 11th-inning walk. In the second inning, he slid into second base on a forceout.

Ethier narrowly missed a ball at the center-field wall that resulted in a two-run double by Carlos Beltran in the third inning. The double tied the score, 2-2.

The play was a difficult one, as it required Ethier to sprint back.

“It hit off my glove,” Ethier said.

Asked if it was a split-second play, Ethier replied, “You can call it a split-second play. If you’re calling it a routine play, you can go out there and play for us.”
