Moves begin: Justin Turner to DL; Mike Bolsinger, Zach Lee to minors

The bodies started coming and going Friday, new players arriving, familiar ones being sent down, or in the case of Justin Turner, placed on the 15-day disabled list.

The Dodgers are doing roster adjustment in piecemeal fashion.

The Turner move buys them some time. He last played Sunday, afterward coming down with an infection in his right thigh. His DL move can be retroactive to Monday. There are three off days in that 15-day period.

Right-hander Mat Latos had yet to report Friday, so the Dodgers only had to create three openings for left-handed starter Alex Wood, right-handed reliever Jim Johnson and left-handed reliever Luis Avilan.

In addition to the Turner move, the Dodgers sent right-handed starters Mike Bolsinger and Zach Lee to triple-A Oklahoma City.

When Latos reports – he is scheduled to start Sunday – the Dodgers will have to make an additional roster move. Right-handed reliever Yimi Garcia could be also headed back to Oklahoma City (corrected).

On Tuesday catcher A.J. Ellis (strained knee) can come off the disabled list, so catcher Austin Barnes could be returned to triple-A. Turner can come off the following Tuesday (Aug. 11), so if everyone remains healthy, a difficult decision has been put off until then.

Wood said he is scheduled to make his first start for the Dodgers Tuesday in Philadelphia.

Outfielder Jose Tabata, acquired earlier in the day for Mike Morse, was assigned to triple-A Oklahoma City, as was the infield prospect the Dodgers received from the Braves, Jose Peraza.
