Reseda Cleveland is a dangerous team in the City Section Division I baseball playoffs because of junior pitcher Ben Kaser.
He threw a complete game in the Cavaliers’ 2-1 win over Sun Valley Poly on Wednesday in a play-in game that sends Cleveland to play No. 2-seeded Narbonne on May 28 in a first-round game. Austin White drove in the tying run for Cleveland.
Hamilton received home runs from Dalton Blumfeld and Hector Velazquez in a 4-2 victory over San Pedro. Hamilton will play at Granada Hills Kennedy on May 28.
Verdugo Hills defeated Roosevelt, 4-2, and will face No. 1-seeded El Camino Real.
Taft defeated Garfield, 7-0. Cody Magdaleno threw five innings of shutout ball. Alex Rodarte had an RBI double. Gedeon Ellis had an RBI triple. Taft will play Banning in a first-round game.
